Infant Classroom
Age Range
6 Weeks – 15 Months
Your child’s transition to the next classroom is based not only on age and meeting developmental milestones, but on their individual progression.
“The greatness of the human personality begins at the hour of birth.”
– Maria Montessori
We understand that your infant is a priceless and unique being new to this world. Our teachers are not only educators but compassionate caregivers that love, teach and help grow each child as their own.
The Infant classroom is divided into two classes based on the mobility of each child. Our younger side are infants 6 weeks to 9 months or when the child becomes increasingly mobile. The older side infants are 9 to 15 months.
We follow the infants natural eating and sleeping pattern until they are ready to be placed on the classroom’s schedule. Infants learn through their senses so at Hummingbird we make sure each infant can experience a safe, nurturing and educational environment.
Your infant’s curriculum focuses on developing motor, sensory, cognitive, language, social and emotional skills. Safety as well as love and security are also key elements in your infant’s day. A trusting bond between your child and their caregiver is built upon their physical and emotional needs and although your infant is still so small, we provide them with the following lessons tailored to each of their individual development:
- Language (non verbal and verbal skills)
- Social and emotional
- Cognitive
- Art
- Fine motor and gross development
- Self-care
- Self-awareness and discovery
